Sue Bird will she stay or go

So it has been  highly rumored that the Phoenix Mercury have traded away their point guard Temeka Johnson to make cap space for yep you know who, Sue Bird best point guard in the world. There has been a lot of speculation of Bird signing with The Phoenix Mercury (not from Bird) It's been rumored that the Mercury have let it be known that they will aggressively pursue Sue. Should Seattle Storm fans be a little rattled by this?

After all Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are best friends and Bird would get more nice weather and sunshine out in Phoenix vs in Seattle, so it could sound appealing to Sue. But i don't think Seattle has anything to worry about. Sue has mentioned numerous of times she loves Seattle and was recently asked in an interview if she plans to resign with the Storm and her answer with no hesitation was YES! Sue seems to be a woman of her word very trust worthy and high character so i believe her. If she says she's coming back then she's coming back but this is a business and uncontrolled circumstances can and do happen.

So my question is to Seattle Storm fans how would you respond if Sue decided to sign with the rival and very much hated Phoenix Mercury? Sue Bird is so beloved and admired in Seattle and one of the most popular players in the whole WNBA. Not to mention that she's a gamer, she's a baller, play maker and shot caller lol >>  https://twitter.com/#!/RealSkipBayless But seriously Sue Bird is as clutch of a player that you will see. She is the most clutch woman basketball player in WNBA history. Here's just an example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s1zOgzarmo  She hits game winner after game winner and Seattle Storm fans have had the luxury of watching her win games time after time.. Also not to mention she's very humble and down to earth which is why she is so admired in Seattle and around the WNBA.

So how would Seattle fans react if Sue did decide to sign with the Phoenix Mercury after all she is a FREE agent. I myself as a Storm fan don't know how would respond. I think i would be neutral. I wonder if Seattle Storm fans would give her the Lebron James treatment. Would there be fans ripping and burning up her jersey? Would she get booed every time she went back to play at Key arena? I think there definitely would be some extremely bitter fans. I think Storm fans would understand more if she went to New York which is her home town or Connecticut where she played her college ball but to Phoenix i don't think that would sit well with Storm fans. Me being a Storm fan I know Storm fans are passionate but also very classy and always show respect to former players. What i believe Storm fans would do if Sue signed to play with Phoenix is show her appreciation and respect for all she has done for Seattle. She with the great Lauren Jackson won two championships for Seattle and i think fans would remember all that she has done.

Again I say Bird has shown NO signs that she's interested in Phoenix or any other team. So this blog is just hypothetical but it is something to think about. You have to remember WNBA is business and things can change very quickly but I am going to go with what Sue has said about staying in Seattle. So I don't think there's need to worry. I believe Storm fans can rest pretty easy knowing Sue will be back. Storm fans can say with pride she's ours and not yours well at least for now anyway.
