Samantha Prahalis: The next Big Thing?

Samantha Prahalis is Ohio States Dynamic and very exciting Senior Point guard. I've been following her career since she was a sophomore and i have to tell you i have never seen a point guard like her before. I would say she's a mixture of WNBA super star Diana Taurasi and NBA PG Ricky Rubio and like Rubio she's one of the best passers I've ever seen. And this is coming from me and i get to watch Sue Bird play every night for the Storm. I can't explain her game, I'm going to let her game speak for it's self check out some highlights & get ready for some wow moments because her game is wow in my opinion:

While you were watching these highlights I'm sure Oh my gosh!!, no she didn't, no way!!!, that was just crazy!!, oh and of course wow went through your mind. I think it is clear that she's the most exciting player happening in women's basketball. Question is will she get to wow  Seattle Storm fans this upcoming season? The Seattle Storm have the 2nd pick in this April's WNBA draft which means if LA Sparks who have the first pick don't pick her then the Seattle Storm can with the 2nd pick. Question is will they or should the question be why wouldn't they? My twitter buddy https://twitter.com/#!/_AJustoosmoove tweeted me saying  the Seattle Storm needs to get  Point Guard Sue Bird some help with and Samantha Prahalis could do just that with her effortless and astounding passing ability.. If you watched the video you can see she has no problem passing or shooting the ball. And who better for Samantha to learn from then Bird?

And who better for her to pass it to then Lauren Jackson? You could play Samantha and Sue together as well & they would be some serious weapons for the Seattle Storm. Yes I know the Storm have Guard Tanisha Wright who also plays the PG position for the storm however Tanisha isn't a pure PG.

Tanisha is a combo guard who can run the point guard position. Samantha is a pure PG that can also shoot lights out! She also has that IT factor that swagger that pizazz that a WNBA franchise wait, scratch that not just franchise but WNBA league needs.

Prahalis will put fans in the stands. She comes with a very lofty entertainment value. And let's face it the Storm will need a little more after losing  Swin Cash through trade and who was so beloved in Seattle and also being without Best player in the World, Lauren Jackson for first half of the season to train for 2012 Olympics. Storm fans could really use some extra excitement (I know i sure could).

Don't get me wrong Seattle Storm games are already VERY exciting (if you haven't been to a Seattle Storm game, GO and you can THANK me later) but Samantha brings a little bit of flash, swag and toughness that is very intriguing. I guess the basic way for me to say it is she mentally approaches & plays the game like a guy player and i mean that as a complement She's extremely humble and feminine but If she could dunk on you she would. She just has that edge to her.

And it's disturbing that women basketball players get negative feedback for being edgy, flashy and tough!I I remember  Magic Johnson saying in an interview " You play basketball to win but also to entertain. People pay to watch you win but also want to be entertained". That's coming from Mr Showtime himself. NBA fans love toughness, flash and a little bit of swag from the players but for a woman to be tough and flashy it's a negative thing! I don't get that but nonetheless it's entertaining and it gets people in the seats.

Samantha Prahalis is a skilled player who hates to lose and by the way isn't that what all Seattle Storm players are made of? Toughness and hate to lose? Samantha is the complete package and everything a WNBA franchise would want! Trust me Seattle fans you will love her. So the question is will Brian Agler who doesn't seem very fond of young inexperienced players throw caution to the wind and draft Samantha with the 2nd pick? Or will he trade the pick for a older player? Unfortunately the latter seems more like Agler's pattern. I would love her playing for the two time World CHAMPS Seattle Storm because i know what she brings to a franchise. Brian Agler hasn't put out any hints as to what he will do. We all will have to wait and see. But if they do draft her, they won't regret it!

  1. Love the article. But, coming from a Mercury fan, I hope she falls to #6. But, I'll be a fan of whatever team she ends up on.

  2. I have been saying this all off season. What a great player. You left out how fast she is and how great she is on the defensive side of the ball. If we pick her we will not miss a beat when Sue is ready to retire. As you said who better for Sammy to learn from than Sue.
